The Pittsburgh Steelers took a cautious approach with several key players on Thursday, resting veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward and holding out linebacker Patrick Queen and left guard Isaac Seumalo from practice.
Heyward’s absence was listed as rest, a routine measure for the 35-year-old lineman during the regular season. Queen, however, is dealing with a groin injury that kept him sidelined. Seumalo continues to recover from a pectoral injury suffered near the end of training camp.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was a limited participant for the second straight day as he works his way back from a calf injury. Wilson did not play in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Mike Tomlin stated earlier in the week that the team is preparing as if backup Justin Fields will start against the Denver Broncos.
Cornerback Darius Rush remains in concussion protocol but was able to practice on a limited basis. Rush did not play a defensive snap in Week 1 but served as a gunner on special teams.
In positive news, left tackle Dan Moore (ankle), defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (knee) and rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson (ankle) were all full participants.

Wilson, a third-round pick out of Michigan, was a full participant for the first time since suffering an ankle injury early in training camp. If he can string together two practices as a full participant, he’ll likely make his NFL debut in the Mile High City.
“It was good,” said Wilson after practice Thursday. “Just an opportunity to go out there and work. I have another opportunity tomorrow. That is what I am focused on. So, it will be good.”
“I take it as it comes. It’s up to the coaches. All I can do is focus on tomorrow. Just focus on that and be good.”
Wilson’s return would be a welcome boost for a Steelers offense that struggled to move the ball consistently in Week 1. His speed and playmaking ability could add a new and much needed dimension to the passing game.

The Steelers will release their final injury report on Friday, which will provide a clearer picture of who will be available for Sunday’s game in Denver.
