Kenny Pickett: The Next Great Steelers Quarterback

Kenny Pickett has all the makings to be the Steelers QB of the future.

After an off-season filled with an extraordinary amount of rumors and predictions surrounding Pittsburgh’s first-round pick, the Steelers seem to have their Successor to Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers selected the first quarterback of the night, Kenny Pickett, with the 20th overall pick. GM Kevin Colbert, HC Mike Tomlin, and company had every option at QB available to them and decided to go with the 23-year-old Pittsburgh University product.

The Steelers are quite familiar with Kenny Pickett as Mike Tomlin stated in his press conference after drafting the young QB, “We circled the globe, or at least the United States the last several months exploring and researching and it’s funny, we ended up with the guy from next door.” The Steelers truly did end up with the “guy next door” as they share a practice facility with Pitt.

Pickett also had over 200 yards rushing, 5 rushing touchdowns, and finished third in Heisman voting. The 6’3 QB clocked a 4.73 40-yard dash, which was third best among his position group.

Kenny Pickett joins Dan Marino as one of the only two Pitt quarterbacks to be chosen in the first-round of the NFL Draft.
